Wavelength | Performed August 2019 as a part of The Festival of Infinite Imagination at Pro Arts Gallery, Oakland, CA.

A baby Orca whale arrives in the Place With No Space or Time, an intermediary place between dimensions where all kinds of entities pass through on their way from one world to the next. The Orca is welcomed by a magician and their assistants who put on a magic show to help the little whale find out what brought them to the Place with No Space or Time, and where they will be going to next. Created in response to Tahlequah, the mother Orca whale who carried her deceased child for 17 days through the waters of the Salish Sea, Wavelength examines the connection between the struggles of Black and Indigenous communities and those of the endangered Southern Resident Orca Whales. A magic show that is ultimately a spell to end the devastation of colonization and white supremacy, Wavelength highlights our spiritual connection to the natural world.
