Told through stunning aerial, acrobatic and vogue performances, PARADISE follows an Angel who falls from a pole that connects heaven to earth. She must navigate a world of gravity, demigods and mysticism on her quest to return home in a tale that evokes a new queer Black Mythology.
Conceived and directed by India Sky Davis, PARADISE is a two part live production. The first half of the story was staged in June 2016 as part of the National Queer Arts Festival, and the second half is due for a production in June 2017. Davis, alongside The Lady Ms Vagina Jenkins, Saturn Rising, Kiebpoli Calnek, Brandon Kazen Maddox, and Honey Mahogany (RuPaul’s Drag Race) lead a local cast of queer and trans* performers of color for the June 2016 production in this provocative physical theater production of epic proportions. After the June 2017 production, Davis plans to turn PARADISE into a feature length film.
PARADISE was Topsy Turvy Queer Circus’ first narrative show.
